Two weeks down in the NFL, and we’re already seeing some surprises, disappointments, and a handful of teams trying to prove they belong at the top. The champs stay where they are, some new faces are rising, and a couple of teams we expected more from are already digging themselves into an early hole. Let’s dive in.
1. Philadelphia Eagles (2-0)
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: until someone knocks off the defending champs, they stay at number one. The Eagles are showing they can win in different ways — grinding out close ones or pulling away late. Beating both the Chiefs and Cowboys to start the season is no small feat. They’re battle-tested, and they know how to win.
2. Buffalo Bills (3-0)
It took them a little time to get rolling in Week 1, but Josh Allen and the Bills figured it out and closed strong against the Ravens. In Week 2, they absolutely dismantled the Jets, and held off the Dolphins showing off just how dominant they can be. This team looks every bit like a Super Bowl contender.
3. Green Bay Packers (2-0)
Jordan Love was a question mark coming into the season, but through two weeks he’s been the answer. The Packers are putting up points, the defense is holding strong, and they look like a balanced team. Green Bay is proving they’re not just surviving post-Rodgers — they’re thriving.
4. Baltimore Ravens (1-1)
The Week 1 loss to the Bills stung, but Lamar Jackson bounced back by torching the Browns with a 40-point showing in Week 2. When Baltimore is clicking offensively, they’re one of the most dangerous teams in football.
5. Los Angeles Chargers (2-0)
The Chargers have beaten two quality opponents to open the season, and Justin Herbert looks like a man on a mission. If he keeps playing like this, he’s going to insert himself firmly into the MVP conversation.
6. Tampa Bay Buccaneers (2-0)
Baker Mayfield has this team believing. The Bucs are playing with swagger and confidence, and right now it feels like they think they can win every game they step into. That kind of energy is dangerous.
7. Indianapolis Colts (2-0)
The Colts are one of the bigger surprises through two weeks. They’re proving they can be a real problem, and every win pushes them closer to being viewed as a true contender. Plus, they’re making Daniel Jones’ struggles with the Giants look worse by comparison.
8. Kansas City Chiefs (0-2)
Yes, the Chiefs are 0-2. Yes, that looks bad. But let’s not overreact too much — they’ve lost two tough games that came down to the wire, and both were against quality opponents. Mahomes and Andy Reid will figure it out, but they can’t afford to slip much further.
9. Arizona Cardinals (2-0)
Quietly, the Cardinals are off to a hot start. They’re not flashy, but they’re winning football games, and that matters.
10. Los Angeles Rams (2-0)
The Rams have looked sharper than expected through two weeks. Matthew Stafford is slinging it, and they’re proving they can still compete in a tough NFC.
11. San Francisco 49ers (2-0)
Brock Purdy and the 49ers are right where we expected them to be — winning. This is still one of the most complete rosters in football.
12. Cincinnati Bengals (2-0)
The Bengals have shown resilience and toughness through two games. With Burrow down though with the injury he sustained last week we could see this team fall fast.
Middle of the Pack (1-1 Squads)
Atlanta Falcons: Some flashes of hope, but still figuring out identity.
Las Vegas Raiders: Competitive, but not quite polished yet.
Washington Commanders: A team that won’t be easy to put away.
Detroit Lions: A Week 2 win, bounce back or just the Bears?
Jacksonville Jaguars: Lawrence and the offense will get rolling.
Pittsburgh Steelers: Tough and gritty, but the offense needs more consistency.
Dallas Cowboys: High powered offense, but soft defense.
Denver Broncos: Middle-of-the-road team with upside but need to prove themselves.
Seattle Seahawks: Capable of pulling off surprises, but still uneven.
New England Patriots: Vrabel will get them rolling, but will need time.
Minnesota Vikings: How JJ McCarthy plays this year will decide a lot.
The 0-2 Strugglers
New Orleans Saints: Team with a lot of fight but missing pieces.
Houston Texans: Lots of questions surrounding the offense.
New York Giants: Russell Wilson still trying to quiet the crowd on if he is washed or not.
Carolina Panthers: Rebuilding pains showing early.
New York Jets: Justin Fields struggled badly in Week 2 after a decent debut.
Chicago Bears: This hurts. The Bears don’t look cohesive on either side of the ball, and unless something changes fast, they’re only going to keep sliding.
Cleveland Browns: 0-2 and not showing much promise.
Miami Dolphins: A surprising 0-3 hole for a team with big expectations.
Tennessee Titans: Another team that just doesn’t seem to have it right now and needs more help for Cam Ward.
Week 3 is where we’ll start seeing which of these teams are for real and which ones were just a two-week illusion. The top teams look strong, but there’s still plenty of football left to shake things up.
