Playoff Race Begins
We are a few weeks into the college football season and so far it has already delivered. Now,
the playoffs are still a ways out, but, after a few weeks we can already tell who has the best
chance to make a run. So, this week I am going to list out my favorite teams to make the
playoffs based off the first 3 weeks of the season.
1) Ohio State
2) Miami
3) Texas Tech
4) Georgia
5) Penn State
6) FSU
7) Oregon
8) LSU
9) Texas A&M
10) Georgia Tech
11) Oklahoma
12) Tulane
Conference Play
We are about to see the conference games ramp up as the season goes on. We already had a
crazy game in the SEC between Georgia and Tennessee. With only a few bye spots up for
grabs for the playoffs every week we will see more and more games like this as teams compete
for a spot at the end of the season. We saw the downfall of Clemson as Georgia Tech took
them out in ACC play. Big 12 had a few matchups, although the Arizona and Kansas State
game did not count as Big 12 play because of when the game was scheduled (Makes no sense
to me). This week is just a precursor for week 4 as the conference games really start to kick off.
Cinderella Run Over?
Well, unfortunately it seems the magic has run out for USF as they fell to Miami in a blow out
loss. While I do think they will finish with a solid record at the end of the season, I think this loss
will take them out of the playoff race. With that being said, my other teams I picked as my
group of 5 favorite still have a shot with both Tulane and UNLV still undefeated. Tulane has a
huge matchup against Ole Miss who is currently ranked 12 while UNLV should have another
winnable game against Miami (OH) in week 4. I will continue to root for the magic to keep on
going for these teams throughout the season!
Week 4 Preview
Week 4 has a sweet lineup of amazing games and a couple of top 25 matchups that will help
clear up the playoff picture a little bit. To start off we have 9 Illinois VS 19 Indiana. I think Illinois
wins this, but this will be the first real test for both teams. Next we have 17 Texas Tech VS 16
Utah. I have not been sold on Utah so far and I actually think this Texas Tech team could win
the Big 12. Next the SEC will se 22 Auburn VS 11 Oklahoma. Oklahoma already has a big win
under their belt, but I think Auburn will make this game close. Next are some of my sleeper
games to keep man eye one. First up is 25 USC VS Michigan State. I feel like this game is a
prove it game for USC to show that they actually deserve their top 25 spot. Next is 23 Missouri
VS South Carolina. I like this Missouri team and I think this is a week to show they are one of
the top SEC teams. Back in the Big Ten we have 21 Michigan VS Nebraska. I am not sure how I
feel about either of these teams. Michigan has a young quarterback who struggled against a
quality opponent. Add to that fact that it is at Nebraska, will make this a tough challenge for
Michigan, but Nebraska started out great last year and ended up finishing 7-6. Staying in the
Big Ten we have Iowa VS Rutgers. This one will be interesting to see where both these teams
measure up in the Big Ten. Lastly we look at Florida VS 4 Miami. We will either watch Florida
shock everyone, or we could potentially see their head coach be fired. Last year Florida won
some crazy games, but so far it has been a rough start for the gators.
